Participation as a virtual guest speaker in a K-12 classroom

The Outreach Office of the Center for Latin American Studies has a special request for your participation as a virtual guest in a K-12 classroom.

The Virtual Guest Speaker Initiative through the Center’s Outreach Office is designed to bring an international or national expert into a teacher’s classroom virtually to answer student questions on matters concerning Latin America, its culture, and its people.

The visit is very informal, lasts around 30 minutes or less, and occurs through Zoom (similar to skype, but no download necessary). It is structured so that the teacher provides a topic and questions ahead of time so that you may prepare talking points on your end. On top of that, we also leave some time during the visit for student questions.

Details of the virtual visit:

Topic: Endangered animals and environmental issues in Latin America (any region)
Possible date(s): April 18 or 20, 2018
Possible time(s): 11:00-11:30 am CST (12:00-12:30 pm in Florida)
Class description: 11th grade IB Spanish students
Presentation language requested: Mixture of Spanish and English

Please let us know if you will be able to participate.
