Concentration in Tropical Conservation and Development

Graduate students from participating academic units who complete the TCD Graduate Certificate also are eligible to receive an interdisciplinary concentration on Tropical Conservation and Development.

Students applying for the TCD Interdisciplinary Concentration must complete the course requirements for the TCD Graduate Certificate.  In addition, students must complete a thesis, dissertation, or final project (in the case of non-thesis degree programs) which has an interdisciplinary focus on themes related to conservation and development.  For the Interdisciplinary Concentration, one member of the student’s supervisory committee must be a TCD affiliate faculty member.  This person will have the responsibility to judge whether the student’s thesis focuses on conservation and/or development and is representative of the interdisciplinary approaches and research characterized by the TCD program.  This person cannot count as the external member of the committee.

Those interested in pursuing a TCD Interdisciplinary Concentration should email TCD Program and contact their Department Graduate Advisor to sign up. Upon graduation, the student’s Department should contact the TCD Program to confirm the student has completed all requirements before approving the Concentration.
