Tropical Conservation & Development Program
UF Center for Latin American Studies
Updates from Bolivia by Program Coordinator Marliz Arteaga.
The time has come for our five research teams to head into the field. They consist of 5 UAP students, 3 UF researchers, 5 academic mentors, 2 field mentors, and 1 program coordinator. They are set to spend the next two weeks in the Alto Madeira watershed.
Their research will cover diverse topics, including fish and fisheries, regional economy, non-timber forest products (NTFP), agroforestry, and the social and environmental impact of large infrastructure projects in the area.
In addition to their research, the teams will conduct workshops and training sessions on using various field equipment, such as trap cameras and water analysis tools. We wish them the best of luck in this crucial phase of the Transdisciplinary Research in the Amazon Program.
We thank everyone who has made this possible including our funders #100KStrongAmericas – Universidad Amazonica de Pando – University of Florida International Center – UF’s Center for Latin American Studies – UF’s Tropical Conservation and Development Program.
