TCD is proud to announce a gift of $10,000 from the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation to support graduate student research with a focus on field biology within TCD’s Field Research Grant competition.
TCD Field Research Grants support graduate students conducting research on issues of biodiversity conservation, sustainable resource use, and human well-being. Student research projects should make an explicit link between the research topic and conservation and/or development and must be carried out in the tropics or subtropical / temperate zones of developing countries. Both Master’s and Doctoral students are eligible to apply, but funding for doctoral students is intended for initial site visits and preliminary research activities only.
TCD funds may be used for international travel, in-country travel, lodging, meals, and other research-related expenses. Grants average $2,000, with the amount for each recipient depending on travel costs to the research site, the availability of funds, and whether the recipient has received research funding from other sources.
The Field Research Grant Competition is possible thanks to a Ford Foundation Endowment in support of TCD. Funds from Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation will support students whose field work is primarily biological, making them a vital addition to the Ford Endowment.
