Congratulations to new AAAS Fellow Dr. Emilio Bruna, TCD Core Faculty

Emilio Bruna, Professor in Center for Latin American Studies and Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, was elected as a Fellow into the prestigious American Academy of Arts & Sciences, in recognition of his exceptional impact and achievements in research and teaching.  Dr. Bruna joined the University of Florida and the TCD program as a core faculty member in 2002.  His research examines 1) how the demography and population dynamics of tropical plants are influenced by human activities such as deforestation and climate change, and (2) factors influencing geographic disparities in the production and spread of knowledge, with an emphasis on scholarship from Latin America. At UF, he has received numerous awards, including being recognized as a Distinguished Teaching Scholar. He currently serves as Past-President of the Association for Tropical Biology & Conservationand Secretary of the Ecological Society of America.
