DiegoJuárez-SánchezPhDWildlife Ecology and ConservationDr. Christina RomagosaNAGuatemalaI am interested in predator-prey interactions, trophic ecology, and invasion ecology. For my dissertation, I will be evaluating how important is the diversity of native predators to regulate the populations of an invasive prey. I am using the native river predators (large fish, crocodiles, fishing birds and river otters) and the invasive Armored catfish (Pterygoplichthys sp.) in northern Guatemala as a model to address my question.Guatemala

AndrésLeón-ReyesPhDSchool of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics SciencesDr. Taylor V SteinNAEcuadorI have actively collaborated with researchers in several other disciplines in the Ecuadorian Amazon, the Andes, and the Galapagos Islands.
The overall principal research aims to identify the motivations behind the increase of wildlife photography on social media (by visitors and professional photographers) to communicate and express engagement with nature.

AkshayVinod AnandPhDSchool of Natural Resources and EnvironmentDr. Robert GuralnickDr. Bette LoiselleIndiaI am broadly interested in understanding the drivers that govern the elevational distributions of birds in the Nilgiri mountain range of the Western Ghats of India. Additionally I am interested in the development of Artificial Intelligence technologies that can be used to monitor wildlife, particularly birds. For my PhD I will be exploring the role of interspecific competition in structuring the elevational distributions of birds in the Nilgiris. I will also be looking at altitudinal migration patterns of birds in this mountain range, with a specific focus on tracking migration patterns as a function of phenology changes along an elevational gradient.
